Our primary mission at CivHacks is to create a safe and welcoming environment for all of our participants, staff, sponsors, and judges. To this end, harassment will not be tolerated. Harassment includes offensive and/or violent actions and comments relating to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion or political views, deliberate intimidation, stalking, audio/video recording against reasonable consent, sustained disruption of talks or other events, invasion of privacy, and unwelcome sexual attention. Any hacks created at CivHacks are subjected to these policies as well.
If you experience or notice harassment, please bring this to a staff member’s attention immediately. We are there to make sure that you feel like you are in a safe environment so please reach out to us if there is anything we can do. Ensuring the safety of those involved with our hackathon.
Those asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to obey immediately. We will take any action we deem necessary against those engaging in harassing behaviour. This includes a warning, expulsion from the event (with no refund), and/or reporting this behaviour to local law enforcement.
We expect everyone involved at the hackathon to follow these policies at all events, socials, and workshops related to CivHacks.
For any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at [email protected].
